As I recover from spending more than eighteen hours in the field supporting rail operations for the Boston Red Sox’s World Series victory parade and train service to Salem for Halloween, I couldn’t help but think back to the 2008 Phillies World Series which also fell on October 31.

Just how common is this? Apparently, increasingly so.

Since 2008, five parades have occurred on Halloween. In the 20 years before that? Never.

Other common dates? 10/30, which continues to be popular throughout the years, and 10/29.

While the reasons are variable, it seems the tide has changed with Halloween now a desirable choice of champion cities alike.
